Crema del capital
Burning of the Capital
L. Raspall
Oil on canvas
50 x 50 cm
This very anti-esteblishment piece is titled ‘the burning of the capital’, understood as meaning the monetary profits saught after and rewarded by a human system we all work within. It strives to express insufference and dissapointment towards any scheme or system that minimises and dehumanises human beings, towards which the artist feels powerless. There’s a certain inherent irony in how such a system, rather than incourage personal self-improvement and therefore the development of humanity as a whole, exacerbates unegalitarianism, selfishness and division.
